Antônio Pereira Ferreira

He holds a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from UFJF (1985), a residency in Clinical and Toxicological Analysis from UFJF (1986-1987), a Master’s in Biological Chemistry from UFRJ (1994), and a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from UFRJ (1997). He completed his postdoctoral research at the Institut Curie – Paris/France (CNRS), working with Dr. Jean-Louis Rigaud and Dr. Andre Goffeau (FYSA – Belgium).

He is currently a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in the Department of General Microbiology at the Institute of Microbiology within the Center for Health Sciences. He has expertise in Clinical Biochemistry and Basic Biochemistry, with an emphasis on the Biochemistry of Microorganisms. His research primarily focuses on ABC/MFS transporters and multidrug resistance, using yeasts and pathogenic fungi as models.
