She graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1979 and obtained a master’s degree (1991) and a Ph.D. (1996) in Medicine (Infectious and Parasitic Diseases) from UFRJ. She is currently a Full Professor at IMPG. She served as the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Sciences (Microbiology) at IMPG (2014-2018) and as the Director of the Institute (2019-2023).
She has experience in the fields of infectious diseases and microbiology, with an emphasis on the molecular epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance. Her current research focuses on Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
