She holds a Master’s in Science (Microbiology) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2006), a Ph.D. in Science (Microbiology) from the same institution (2010), and completed postdoctoral research with a PNPD-CAPES-FAPERJ scholarship and a FAPERJ Nota 10 postdoctoral fellowship at UFRJ. She was a substitute professor at the Department of General Microbiology, IMPG-UFRJ, and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the same department.
She has expertise in Immunology, Parasitology, Cell and Molecular Biology, medicinal plants, and natural products. She is involved in projects that focus on drug studies, natural and synthetic drugs, biotechnology, diagnostic tools, and projects addressing the dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 infection between humans and their pets. Additionally, she coordinates projects that investigate the activities of natural drugs with anti-Leishmania properties, as well as the study of nanoparticles for the treatment of protozoan diseases. She also coordinates extension projects titled “Nosso chá: o científico e o popular na preparação de infusões de plantas medicinais” and “Combatendo o movimento antivacina e fake news com informação científica.” She is a member of the Biodiversity Coordination (CoordBio).
