She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) (1997), a Master’s in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from UFRJ (1999), and a PhD in Biological Sciences (Biophysics) from UFRJ, with a visiting researcher stage at Johns Hopkins University (2003). She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Virology at the Paulo de Góes Institute of Microbiology, UFRJ. She has experience in the fields of Virology and Immunology/Inflammation, investigating mechanisms of virus-cell interaction and viral pathogenesis, with a focus on the vascular endothelium and innate response, particularly in infections caused by dengue virus, Zika virus, HIV, and SARS-CoV-2.
