Maria do Socorro Rosa Rodrigues de Carvalho

She holds a degree in Biological Sciences (Teaching Certification) from the Federal University of Amazonas (1987), a Master’s in Biological Sciences (Entomology) from the National Institute for Amazonian Research (1993), and a PhD in Parasitic Biology from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (1998). She is currently an Adjunct Professor IV at the Paulo de Góes Institute of Microbiology, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She has experience in the field of Parasitology, with an emphasis on Human Parasitic Protozoology, focusing mainly on Experimental Chemotherapy for neglected diseases, particularly Leishmania amazonensis and Leishmania chagasi. She currently coordinates the Extension Center for Microbiology at IMPPG/UFRJ.
