She is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Microbiology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She holds a degree in Pharmacy and a Master’s in Food Science from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1996, 2001), and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Microbiology from the University of Bonn, Germany (2006). She has experience in applied microbiology, mainly focusing on antimicrobial resistance, and collaborates on related projects with a technological emphasis, such as bacteriocins and nanoparticles. Currently, she leads two main research lines: antimicrobial resistance in gram-negative bacteria isolated from food or environments associated with their production, and antimicrobial resistance and phylogeny in Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
