Tatiana de Castro Abreu Pinto

She has experience in Medical Microbiology, particularly in methods for the molecular characterization of gram-positive cocci using phenotypic, genotypic, and omics approaches. Recognized with the “Emerging Leaders in Infectious Diseases” award by the International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID), she was also the “Young Ambassador of Science to Brazil” by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) from 2017 to 2019. She is a member of the scientific committee of the ASM Microbe Congress (2020-2023) and the International Symposium on Streptococcus agalactiae Diseases (ISSAD). She is an associate editor of the International Journal of Infectious Diseases (IJID). Additionally, she coordinates scientific outreach initiatives, such as the ASM/UFRJ International Student Chapter extension project and the DivulgaMicro project. Her main research topics include: antimicrobial resistance, virulence and molecular diversity of bacteria, diagnosis and control of maternal and infant bacterial infections, bacterial vaccines, and scientific communication and outreach.
