Walter Martin Roland Oelemann

He holds a degree and Master’s in Chemistry from the University of Cologne (1982) and a PhD in Natural Sciences from the University of Cologne (1988). He is currently an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He has experience in the field of Genetics, with an emphasis on Molecular Genetics and Microorganisms, mainly focusing on the following topics: PCR, diagnostics, ELISA, Chagas disease, diseases caused by mycobacteria, bovine and human tuberculosis, paratuberculosis, Crohn’s disease, characterization of mycobacterial lipids; characterization of lipid substances with antibacterial activity derived from marine sponges.
